An unmissable retrospective on Charles Frederick Worth

From May 7 to September 7, 2025, the Petit Palais presents an exceptional retrospective devoted to Charles Frederick Worth, the true inventor of haute couture. Spanning 1,100 m², the exhibition brings together more than 400 pieces — ball gowns, accessories, works of art, paintings, and graphic materials — tracing the history of the House of Worth, from its beginnings under the Second Empire to the Art Deco era.

Worth was the first fashion designer to place his signature on his creations, to organize fashion shows with live models, to launch seasonal collections, and to position Paris as the world’s fashion capital. The exhibition also explores his artistic collaborations, textile innovations, and strategy of exclusivity, as well as the lasting legacy of his work up until the house’s closure in 1956.
